Gokyo valley trekking is also known as Gokyo lake trekking or Gokyo Ri trekking. After the 40 minute flight from Kathmandu to Lukla, the trek follows a trail up the Dudh Koshi river valley passing through some major villages like Namche, Khumbu and Khumjung from where it branches off the main busy trail and heads towards the sleepy village of Phortse tenga and finally reaches Gokyo, a beautiful pasture land with two lakes. The valley provides splendid view of high altitude peaks like Cho Oyu, Everest, Lhotse and Makalu and the Ngozumpa Glacier which is the largest glacier in the Himalayas.
Among the most intense panoramas in Khumbu is the view of the fabulous ice ridge between Cho Oyu and Gyachung Kang (7922m). There are lodge and tea house facilities available at Gokyo, and there are also additional trekking trails for high altitude walking and crossing Cho La which is a 5420 meter high pass into Khumbu. The return to Lukla is along the same path, where upon you take a flight back to Kathmandu.
Upon arrival in Kathmandu Active Sherpa Trekking airport representative pick you up at airport and transfer to your hotel in Kathmandu, afternoon free & rest.
Today early in the morning transfer to domestic airport for scenic 35 minute flight to Lukla. Before we begin our trek to phakding we stop for hours to short out our baggage and start our trek to Phakding, today our trek trial is gradual descent, cross the suspension bridge and passing through stone carving mani walls ( written Spiritual Mantra OM MANI PADME HUNG), Buddhist pray flags, monastery and beautiful Sherpa villages.
Continue our trekking to Namche bazar, crossing suspension bridges over the Dudhakoshi River and we enter the Sagarmatha National park check post, we pass Jorsale village and walk alongside of the Dudh Koshi and Bhote Koshi rivers after few hours steep ascent brings us to the capital- land of Sherpa Namche Bazar known as Gate way of Everest.
Today we stop at Namche Bazar for Acclimatization. There’s an optional 2 hour hike to Everest View Point, an uphill walk that will help speed acclimatization. Otherwise, spend the day exploring Namche Bazaar visit the Sherpa museum, Monastery and there are several quality restaurants, hotels, lodges, shops, money exchange services, internet cafes and bakeries.
Today after breakfast we climb up the Namche Bazar and then following the nice flat trail high up the Dudh Koshi river with providing incredible views of the mountains all around. We stopped for a cup of tea at the tiny village of Kyangjuma (3550m) then just down the path at Sanasa and the trail ascended several steep stone staircases and gradual climb up Mong La. From Mong La, the trail descends down steeply along a dusty, rocky trail through pine forest to the Dudh Kosi at Phortse Tenga. The trail from Phortse Tenga climbing gradually up and pass through rhododendron forest and finally we stop at Dole.
Today our trek about 4 to 5 hours and from here the trail only climbed gradually across a terrain of tundra like grasses and juniper bushes with beautiful view of Taboche ( 6542m), Cholaste (6443m) and Mt. Cho Oyu (8201m), the sixth highest mountain in the world. Continue trek to yak pastures and pass the seasonal village of Luza (4340m) we stop for cup of Tea at Luza, then trek to Machhermo.
Today our trek continues to Gokyo, the trials rocky and passes the beautiful Lakes. We get views of the first second and third of the Gokyo lakes on the series of six lakes in Gokyo Valley.On the edge of third lake stands the Gokyo Village and we stop overnight Gokyo village. Afternoon you can explore the biggest glacier of the world – the Ngazumpa Glacier.
Today early in the morning we climb to Gokyo Ri (5360m) enjoy the lovely view of the Mountains in Everest Region as well as sunrise view. From the top of the Gokyo Ri we get closer amazing views of Mt. Cho-Oyu, Mt. Gyachung Kang, Mt. Everest, Mt. Lhotse, Mt. Nuptse, Mt. Makalu and the biggest glacier of the world – the Ngazumpa Glacier trek back to Gokyo rest of the day explore Gokyo Valley.
Today breakfast we continue trek down same trials Dole with beautiful view of snow cap Mountain.
Continue trek down same trial passing Phortse Tanga and Mongla and trek to Namche Bazar we stop over night at Namche.
Continue trek same trial to Lukla over night at Lukla.
Today early in the morning fly back to Kathmandu rest of day is free & easy for your own activities.
